Haik started his work at Dagesh Group in 2008, as a team lead in Assembly. As part of that role, he was responsible for assembling medical systems for vision tests by Visionix, including integration, manding and upgrading systems abroad.

About three years later, the department had projects added to it and he was promoted. “The department grew and I with it. I was promoted to department manager, which included 3 team leads and 25 employees,” Haik adds.

In that role, he dealt with assembly and logistics and took part in the company’s transfer to its new location at Yad Binyamin. “The transition very much helped me in widening my horizons, in many fields and new technologies that were put into the factory,” he summarizes the project.

After nine years as Assembly Manager, he was promoted to the Manager of Warehouse and Logistics position. In his current role, he deals with managing all of Dagesh’s inventory; from designated material inventory to materials; gathering the necessary materials for assemblies and moving them around the company; receiving systems and ensembles post-installation and mobilizing them to the company’s clients. In addition, the department provides services to the Cleaning and Control departments via mobilizing the parts and servicing the CNC production machines.

There’s creative thinking required when working the logistics of complex manufacturing processes. “Since there are quite a few unplanned issues around supply, trucks, gathering, personnel and so on, in the field of logistics, I’m required to think outside the box and find creative solutions in order to maintain the workflow.”

Haik manages 25 employees at the Warehouse and Logistics department, dealing in projects from various clients, such as Applied Materials, HP, KLA, Landa, Defense industry of Israel and more.

Reasons to get up in the morning

According to Haik, there are many advantages to working at the Dagesh Group, “The company does everything to create a comfortable and safe work environment, while strictly and uncompromisingly maintaining the issue of security.”

He also stresses that, “Even though the company is stable and growing, management is constantly thinking in order to develop and promote employees from within, and not just bring people from the outside.”

All employees can express themselves at Dagesh, and enjoy freedom of action to apply new ideas, even if means adjusting work protocols, he adds. “The employees can be the forefront in leading change. The company supports and promotes any improvement for the sake of bettering the system or employees, and offer employees an open-door policy to management in any matter. This creates an atmosphere of belonging and partnership on all company aspects.”

“We obviously don’t forget to stop and enjoy ourselves, so we occasionally arrange for department team-building days, such as karaoke nights, dinners, trips and camping, maintaining a good atmosphere and friendships between the department employees.”

From the managing standpoint, he adds that all of Dagesh’s managers receives managerial freedom of action and the ability to lead, fully backed by departmental processes.

Finally, he stresses that there’s a complete transparency in the company and a full inclusion of the employees, creating a fertile ground for the personal and professional development of each of the company’s employees.

Learning, experimenting, developing

Haik explains that every new employee at the company is being assigned a more veteran employee, a team lead or a department manager, and is personally trained regarding their position, alongside trainings in computer systems, inventory, processes, work procedures, etc. In addition, the group occasionally holds professional trainings at the plant.

According to him, it’s never boring at Dagesh Group. “The company is constantly growing, so there are always new and interesting projects or challenging tasks beyond the routine ones. There are also constant challenges in managing a department and leading employees to achieve departmental goals. It’s not always easy and there are difficulties along the way, but at the end of the process – after having achieved the goals – there’s a sense of satisfaction and motivation to meet the next challenge,” he summarizes.

Working at the group provides employees with multiple opportunities for learning and potential development, since Dagesh includes many fields (engineering, manufacturing, development, assembly and more) and its employees get to deal with almost all of them. This way, in time, employees are also experimenting and developing expertise in areas that are not necessarily their main field. Therefore, many employees in the company move between the departments and often reach a different position than the one at which they began. For instance, all the team leads in our department came from the warehouse, those who proved themselves. This doesn’t happen in every company and it’s worth appreciating.”
