Revital Barda is a materials engineer who has specialized in the world of quality assurance for the past thirty years; she is a certified Quality Engineer with a degree from Ben Gurion University. She is joining us at Dagesh after serving as a Quality Manager at Rotem Industries for the past eight years. She’d previously filled quality management positions at other companies, where she oversaw, among other things, quality team management, client-facing work, regulation, and working with the Standards Institution of Israel and other organizations both in Israel and abroad. “The factories I’ve worked at specialize in various disciplines of manufacture: fashion, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and sapphire processing for optometry. As a result, I’ve attained a big-picture view of the field of quality and accrued many tools which I’m bringing with me into Dagesh’s Quality department,” Revital adds.
The Quality Department’s Role within Dagesh Group
Dagesh Group’s Quality department oversees:
- The enforcement of a quality policy and proper work at all stages of manufacture, abiding by international standards ISO 9001: Quality management systems, ISO 13485: Medical devices — Quality management systems, and AS9100D: Quality Management Systems — Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations;
Dagesh uses cleanrooms according to ISO 5 (class 100) and ISO 6 (class 1000);
- The instatement of policy and guidelines for other departments within the company: defining all quality procedures within the company and supervising them while keeping all organizational functions in mind, from purchase order and acquisitions, through engineering and manufacture, to final packaging;
- Assurance of meeting client demands: The Quality Department works directly with the company’s clients in order to understand their demands and ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes are satisfactory;
- Constant improvement of the manufacture processes and the product: Quality is continually working to identify opportunities to improve the company’s manufacturing process and products, seeking to work with proper procedure, and to reduce the deficits and poor-quality costs that ultimately hurt the company’s profitability. Another continuous value-adding tool is the internal testing conducted to identify disparities from proper work procedures and to define corrective actions to close such gaps;
- Customer satisfaction metrics: The Quality Department monitors customer satisfaction, aspiring to set means of improving customer satisfaction and retaining the customer.
Putting Quality First
Revital brings extensive experience and great professional knowledge in the field of quality assurance. She has a deep understanding of quality procedures and relevant regulation, and has excellent management skills and an advanced organizational outlook.
We expect that Revital will make a great contribution as Dagesh Group’s Quality Manager. She will lead the department to new achievements and ensure the continuous improvement of the company’s products and services.
A Career in Quality Assurance
Because Dagesh Group views the establishment of organizational quality with the utmost of importance, the company’s Quality department has seen great growth in the past months, a move that will have a direct impact on engagement with clients. To those interested in a career in quality assurance, Revital recommends receiving the relevant education and experience: “Newcomers to the field will need to be acquainted with the world of quality in order to speak the language. When we hire employees into the Quality Department, we prioritize those with professional industrial experience and a familiarity with the world of quality. Nevertheless, people from other departments in the company can enter the Quality Department as well — we were recently joined by Keren Yaakov from Quality Control. If an employee has gaps that need to be filled, we send them on training courses such as internal tester training, and quality assurance training.”
Revital’s tips for a career in quality:
- Get an education in quality engineering, quality assurance, or other pertinent fields.
- Get practical experience in quality assurance, for example through work in a company’s quality department and through practical courses.
- Act to develop your skills in inquiry and analysis, problem-solving, and collaborative work.
- Make sure to keep up with current standards and procedures in quality assurance.
